Self Improvement Seminar I Attended –Some Helpful Tips

Self Improvement Begins

Self Improvement Begins

I recently attended a self improvement seminar after having stopped attending such seminars years ago.

The most we ever got out of any past self improvement seminars was an initial, temporary, hopeful, excitement.   I had ended up concluding the subject was a waste of time.

After the seminar, I really did have a vastly better understanding of my own reactions, thoughts and emotions to events and conversations (including my own internal dialog with myself).   Probably experiencing the concepts during the event helped me to “get it” and apply it immediately.

I felt more in control of myself and my surroundings and was better able to interact, respond and even understand better where other people were coming from.

What Kinds Of Things Did Herb Say That Were So Great?

Self Development Starts With Altitude

Self Development Starts With Altitude

1) We are never upset about what we think we are upset about.  We are always upset about a perception, not what actually happened.

2) Problems never go away when you try to solve them.  When an event occurs that blocks you from making progress toward a goal, refocus on the goal to locate a different path to pursue that goal, rather than pushing to eliminate that initial blocking event.  Then that blocking event is no longer important to you because you have now found a different path that currently has no blocks visible yet.  The original problem has now become unimportant to you.

3) Responsibility is agreeing to be the cause of everything that happens to you, that you do to others, that others do to you, and others do to others.  (This one generated a lot of discussion and a lot of experiencing to “get it”)

4) Almost everybody has mistakenly misfiled their past into their future file drawer.   Get your past out of your future file drawer and keep it in your past drawer so you can start to manifest some new things you want in your life.  You want your future file drawer to be empty.

5) The only way to forgive is to relive the experience.  Then it will no longer control you.  Then it will go away.

After this you become a different person.  This is real self improvement.
